Conference Day and Leadership Day
Our students have been working hard over the past few week to prepare for student led conferences and Leadership Day. One thing they have working hard on, is their Leadership Notebook. Each student has a notebook with certain tab. Their tabs include: Mission Statement (each student writes their own statement using goals they have for life), Goals tab (they write a goal for a habit they need to work on, an academic and a personal goal), Data tab (the keep record of their scores for test and report cards), Leadership tab (they record how they are leaders in the classroom, community, and at home), and finally a Celebrations tab(this is where they keep their awards and certificates). Each student presents their notebook to their parents and discuss it with their parents during conferences. Students are also picked to present their notebooks to visitors from all over the state during Leadership day. Make sure to visit our classroom to see our Leadership notebooks.

Games at home
Game are a very helpful way for children to be hands on with learning. They can have fun while learning and never know it. The following link is a site for games by subject (click here). Take a look and see if you find anything for your child to play at home.

Before You Enter
Well the new school year is fast approaching and the teachers are working hard to get everything ready to start! In order to get ready for a school year, teachers, have to set up their classrooms by moving their furniture, unpacking all of their organizational buckets and books, putting labels and names in books for their students, coming up with neat first day activities and of coarse decorating the classroom to make it feel welcoming and cool for their future students all while attending meeting after meeting.
This past week teachers went back to work on Wednesday to get ready for the students to come this upcoming Wednesday. This is what has been done so far to greet my students as they come down the hallway and at the door of my classroom.
I saw this awesome idea on Pinterest and just had to add it to my door. I made out of a picture frame and yarn.
The banner is above the door as the students enter the room.
We don't really have a board out of our doors, so we have to make our own. This year, my board say's "Look WHOOOO's in Mrs. Holliman's Class" with an owl and each leaf has each of the student's name on it.
Be looking for a classroom tour to come soon!!!
